LALCEC: 104 años al servicio de la prevención y la contención

En LALCEC celebramos 104 años de compromiso con la prevención y la detección temprana del cáncer, así como con el acompañamiento integral a quienes transitan esta enfermedad y a sus seres queridos.
Nuestra historia comenzó en 1921, cuando Helena Larroque de Roffo, junto a un grupo de mujeres pioneras, fundó la Liga Argentina de Lucha Contra el Cáncer. Desde sus inicios, el objetivo fue asistir a los pacientes oncológicos y colaborar con la investigación científica, al mismo tiempo que buscaba transformar la percepción social del cáncer, desterrando la idea de que es sinónimo de muerte y acercando información confiable a la comunidad.
Hoy redoblamos nuestros esfuerzos para que cada vez más personas estén informadas sobre la enfermedad, se realicen controles a tiempo y cuenten con herramientas de calidad que mejoren su bienestar.
“A lo largo de estos años, hemos logrado mayor precisión en nuestras acciones de concientización y prevención, especialmente para que los jóvenes cuenten con herramientas para cuidarse.
En este último tiempo, nos hemos enfocado en desarrollar servicios específicos para pacientes con cáncer, diseñados por profesionales en oncología y psicooncología, adaptados a las necesidades de cada persona y su entorno.
Sabemos que hay etapas difíciles, pero es posible transitarlas con apoyo, contención y acceso a los recursos adecuados”, destaca María Cristina Espil, presidenta de LALCEC.
